4 Days Orangutan & Elephant Adventure Tour

Bukit Lawang – Tangkahan, North Sumatra

Experience an authentic Sumatra rainforest adventure with wild orangutan trekking in Bukit Lawang and a memorable elephant encounter in Tangkahan. This 4-day eco tour is ideal for European travelers looking for nature, wildlife, and responsible tourism.

DAY 1 – MEDAN AIRPORT / HOTEL → BUKIT LAWANG

Pick up from Kualanamu International Airport or your hotel in Medan.
Travel approximately 4 hours by air-conditioned car to Bukit Lawang, passing scenic countryside and local villages.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.
The rest of the day is free at leisure. You may:

• Swim in the river

• Relax at the lodge

• Take a short walk to the nearby local village

Overnight in Bukit Lawang.

DAY 2 – BUKIT LAWANG RAINFOREST & ORANGUTAN TREKKING

At 08:30 AM, our certified English-speaking jungle guides will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse.

Enjoy a full-day tropical rainforest trek inside Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the last natural habitats of wild orangutans.

During the trek, you may see:

• Sumatran orangutans

• Gibbons and monkeys

• Peacocks, birds, insects

• Tropical plants and rainforest trees

After 3–4 hours of trekking, we reach a jungle waterfall where we stop for:

• Swimming

• Jungle lunch with fresh fruit

After lunch, continue exploring deeper into the forest to observe more flora and fauna.

In the afternoon, return to Bukit Lawang by:

• Traditional tube rafting along the river, or

• Walking back through the forest (your choice)

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 – BUKIT LAWANG → TANGKAHAN (ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE)

At 08:30 AM, pick up from your lodge and drive to Tangkahan, a protected rainforest area often called the Hidden Paradise of Sumatra.

Visit the Tangkahan Elephant Conservation Area, located in a well-maintained natural forest.

Activities include:

• Elephant bathing in the river

• Elephant trekking

• Walking through rural countryside

• Seeing local farms, cows, goats, oil palm plantations, and rubber trees

In the afternoon (around 15:00–16:00), return to Bukit Lawang and transfer back to your hotel.

DAY 4 – BUKIT LAWANG → MEDAN AIRPORT / HOTEL

After breakfast, enjoy free time at your own leisure.
At the scheduled time, transfer back to Medan hotel or Kualanamu International Airport.

End of tour.
